This workshop is intended to bring together researchers in computer science, electrical engineering, physics, and clinical medicine engaged in the development of augmented environments for image-guided interventions.<\/p>\n<h3>IMPORTANT DATES<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Paper Submission Deadline:<\/strong>\u00a0<del>June 20th<\/del> \u00a0<strong>June 30th<\/strong><br \/>\nAuthor Notification: <del>July 13th<\/del>\u00a0\u00a0<strong>July 23rd<\/strong><br \/>\nRevised Papers Due: <del>July 30th<\/del><strong>\u00a0 Aug 6th<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>***<\/strong>We&#8217;re happy to announce that this year\u2019s workshop proceedings will be published in a Special Issue on Augmented Environments for Computer-Assisted Interventions of the IET\u2019s HealthCare Technology Letters Journal (IET HTL).<\/p>\n<p>For more information about\u00a0submitting your paper click\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/workshops.ap-lab.ca\/aecai2018\/submission\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>THEMES<\/h3>\n<p>The focus of this workshop is on novel scientific contributions that offer solutions to the technical problems in computer-assisted intervention systems and robotics,\u00a0visualization and interaction, and medical image computing, as well as papers describing complete systems and clinical applications. The potential clinical benefit is a core subject and contributors will be expected to place their work within this context by describing necessary developments, research questions and any potential obstacles that must be overcome before the clinical introduction of their technologies.<\/p>\n<p>Topics within this theme include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Medical Augmented and Virtual Reality<\/li>\n<li>Surgical Simulation and Training<\/li>\n<li>Multimodal Data Visualization and Image Fusion<\/li>\n<li>Image-guided Surgical Navigation and Robotics<\/li>\n<li>Virtual Endoscopy and Colonoscopy<\/li>\n<li>Display Technology for Medical Imaging and Visualization<\/li>\n<li>Image Guided Intervention System and Platforms<\/li>\n<li>Human-Computer Interaction and Information Display (visual, auditory, tactile)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>AWARDS<\/h3>\n<p>We&#8217;re happy to announce that once again the top three papers will be recognized with a paper award sponsored by Northern Digital Inc.
