He is the head of the MediCIS research group from both UMR 1099 LTSI, Inserm research institute and University of Rennes. He was awarded the PhD degree from the University of Rennes in 1988 on multimodal 3D imaging in neurosurgery and the \u201cHabilitation\u201d (HDR) from the University of Rennes in 2005 on information and knowledge assisted neurosurgery. He has more than 30 year experience in designing and developing computer assisted surgery systems. His research topics include surgical data science, surgical robotics, image-guided surgery, augmented and virtual reality, modeling of surgical procedures and processes, study of surgical expertize, surgical training and validation methodology in medical image processing. He authored or co authored more than 150 peer-reviewed international journal papers. He was the President of the International Society of Computer Aided Surgery (ISCAS) from 2014 to 2018 and the General Secretary from 2004 to 2014. He was board member of the MICCAI society from 2014 to 2018. He is an elected MICCAI Fellow since 2018. He is senior member of the SPIE society. He is the Editor in Chief of Computer Assisted Surgery journal (Taylor&amp;Francis). He is Deputy Editor for the International Journal of Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery (Springer). He is acted as associate editor and reviewer for several journals (e.g., IEEE TMI, MedIA, IJCARS, Neuroimage, Yearbook of Medical Informatics). He is member of several Organizing and Program Committees of international conferences, such as MICCAI, CARS, SPIE Medical Imaging, and MMVR. He was President of CARS 2019 conference in Rennes (France) and Program Co-Chair of MICCAI 2017 in Quebec (Canada). She received her PhD from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in 2009 and had a junior research group Computer-Assisted Surgery from 2012 &#8211; 2016. She is board secretary or the MICCAI society and fellow, has co-authored 170+ publications, organizes key workshops and challenges, and has served as general as well as program chair for major international conferences including IPCAI and MICCAI. Her research focuses on machine learning for image- and robot-assisted surgery.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-895 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/workshops.ap-lab.ca\/aecai2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2026\/09\/Screenshot-2026-09-22-at-1.15.50\u202fPM-246x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"222\" height=\"271\" srcset=\"https:\/\/workshops.ap-lab.ca\/aecai2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2026\/09\/Screenshot-2026-09-22-at-1.15.50\u202fPM-246x300.png 246w, https:\/\/workshops.ap-lab.ca\/aecai2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2026\/09\/Screenshot-2026-09-22-at-1.15.50\u202fPM.png 448w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 222px) 100vw, 222px\" \/>Nassir<\/strong> is a full professor and director of the Laboratories for Computer Aided Medical Procedures (CAMP: <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><a title=\"http:\/\/campar.in.tum.de\" href=\"http:\/\/campar.in.tum.de\/\">http:\/\/campar.in.tum.de<\/a><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">) at Technical University of Munich (TUM). <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Nassir is an elected Member of Academia Europaea and Fellow of ELLIS, IEEE, MICCAI, IAMBE, and AAIA. He has received the IEEE Technical Achievement Award (2025) \u2018for pioneering contributions to medical AR, surgical data science, and robotic imaging\u2019, IEEE ISMAR Career Impact Award (2024), MICCAI Enduring Impact Award (2021), SMIT Technology Innovation Award (2010), and Siemens Inventor of the Year Award (2001). He was named a Medical AR Pioneer in the AWE XR Hall of Fame (2024). Nassir is also known for his pioneering work in digital surgical workflow modeling (since 2005) and robotic imaging (since 2012). He has authored hundreds of peer-reviewed papers and holds over 100 granted US and international patents. Her research focuses on the development of computational methods for biomedical data analysis and computer-assisted interventions, at the intersection of artificial intelligence, geometric computing, machine learning and scientific computing. Verde<\/strong>, MD, MSc, is a digestive and hepatobiliary-pancreatic surgeon and full-time Research Associate at the Institute of Image-Guided Surgery (IHU Strasbourg), collaborating with the Mimesis team since 2019. A surgeon-scientist working at the intersection of surgery and technology, his research focuses on image-guided minimally invasive interventions, particularly needle-based procedures and ablation therapies for the liver, pancreas, and biliary tree. His work integrates advanced medical imaging, AI, image guidance, data, and energy-based technologies, with a strong emphasis on translational research and surgical technology transfer to improve patient care and outcomes.
